Field Scabius, Common Tansy, and Spotted Knapweed are three species that we focus on in the northern-central region of BC at this time, but of course there are many more species of invasive plants in BC/Alberta which we are well equipped to handle.
An invasive species is a species that is not native to a specific location (an introduced species), and that has a tendency to spread to a degree believed to cause damage to the environment, human economy or human health.
Why do we try to contain these plants? Invasive species spread because of our human footprint and it's our responsibility to reduce the spread, which can choke out our native ecosystems and cause difficulty with agriculture.
